The deadline for submitting proposals in relation to the report is 19 April this year. \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #444444; font-size: 15px; letter-spacing: 0.15px;\">The tender to select the offshore wind farm developer is expected to be launched in autumn 2023, after measurements of wind speed and other parameters, geological and geophysical surveys of the seabed, and other actions are accomplished.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #444444; font-size: 15px; letter-spacing: 0.15px;\">Another tender for the selection of the offshore wind farm developer will be launched on 30 March, but the developer of the latter will have to carry out all the necessary studies, including the environmental impact assessment, himself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #444444; font-size: 15px; letter-spacing: 0.15px;\">Both offshore wind farms are planned to be constructed in Lithuanian territorial waters in the Baltic Sea, 30 km or more off the shore. Their combined capacity is 1.4 GW, which would cover about half of Lithuania\u2019s current consumption needs. Offshore wind turbines of this capacity can reach the height of up to 350 m.\u00a0<\/p><p>Based on the results of the EIA and the mitigation measures, three alternatives for the implementation of the offshore wind farm have been developed:\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Alternative 1: <\/strong>Development of an offshore wind farm, where wind turbines are installed throughout the entire maritime area approved by a government resolution, using wind turbine models with a total height of up to 350 m;\u00a0<br \/><strong>Alternative 2:<\/strong>\u00a0Development of an offshore wind farm, where wind turbines are installed within 1 km of the boundary of the marine protected area, using wind turbine models up to 350 m in height;\u00a0<br \/><strong>Alternative 3<\/strong>: Development of an offshore wind farm, where wind turbines are installed within 2 km of the boundary of the protected area, using wind turbine models up to 350 m in height.<\/p><p>Poland, Latvia, Finland, Sweden and Denmark have expressed their willingness to participate in the transboundary environmental impact assessment, and therefore transboundary consultations will also be carried out.<\/p><p>We invite you to read the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/offshorewind.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/EIA_report_annexes_2023-03-20_ENG.pdf\">EIA report annexes<\/a> and submit your proposals by 19 April 2023 (in writing: by post or by e-mail) to the EIA drafter, V\u0161\u012e Paj\u016brio tyrim\u0173 ir planavimo institutas, V.
