    In Lithuania\u2019s efforts to develop offshore wind power plants in the Baltic Sea and reduce the country\u2019s dependence on electricity imports, the Ministry of Energy has signed a contract with the Central Project Management Agency for EU funding worth more than EUR 11.54 million including VAT.<\/p>

    The EU funds will be used for preparatory works for the development of the offshore wind park and for the installation of related infrastructure. The total amount of EUR 11.54 million is earmarked for the preparatory works, which are financed by the Economic Recovery and Resilience Facility (ERRF) and the Lithuanian state budget.<\/p>

    In order to use the potential of offshore renewable energy development, seabed surveys of the area to be developed for the offshore wind park, an infrastructure feasibility study, measurements of wind speeds and other parameters. The preparatory works will also include identifying the location of the park\u2019s connection route to the onshore grid as well as the location of the substation, seabed surveys for the park\u2019s interconnection to the onshore, procurement of consultancy services for the park\u2019s interconnection to the onshore grid, preparation of the park\u2019s interconnection to the onshore grid technical specification and territorial planning documents.<\/p>

    In order to address the untapped potential for offshore renewable energy development, a preparatory work project was initiated.<\/p>

    The activities planned under this project are aimed at carrying out preparatory works for the development of offshore wind power plants and the installation of related infrastructure, which will contribute to the implementation of the reform B.1.1. 1 \u201cMore sustainably produced electricity in the country\u201d of component B.2 \u201cGreen Transformation of Lithuania\u201d of the \u201cNew Generation Lithuania\u201d plan, the objective of which is to \u201cpromote the production, transmission and consumption of electricity from renewable sources by improving institutional and legal mechanisms and providing incentives for business and citizens to invest\u201d.<\/p>

    The project for preparatory works for the development of wind power plants in the Baltic Sea is implemented by the Ministry of Energy.<\/p>

    The project activities are scheduled to end on 30 June 2025.<\/p>
